n-made lake, stretches over 680 km2 of crystal
clear water surrounded by evergreen hills and forests, located in Rangamati Hill District. The Lake was formed when a dam was built on the Karnaphuli River (153 feet high, 1,800 feet long) for the Kaptai hydroelectric power station project.The old town of Rangamati was flooded by the lake water and the new town was to be built later .The lake is teeming with fish and offers opportunities for bathing, swimming and skiing.There are also fishing opportunities and short trips on sampans, the local name for village boats.::Rangamati::If you don't visit Rangamati, you won't experience many of Bangladesh's natural beauties.From Chittagong, 77 km road through green fields and winding hills brings you to Rangamati .

It is also connected to Kaptai over water. It is the only place that can be visited all year round.Rangamati expresses all its beauty during the rainy season.
